  • 2018 first session: HEMINGWAY GRANT RECIPIENTS
    Each year, on a bi-annual basis, the Book Department of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy selects some books which will be awarded a Hemingway Grant; this program allows American publishers to receive financial help for the translation and publication of a French work into English. Grants awarded for each work, both in fiction and non-fiction, range from $1,000 to $3,000.
  • Méthode Room | Chicago
    Curated by independent curator Guillaume Désanges and organized by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in Chicago in partnership with many cultural institutions, Méthode Room is an international residency program that fosters French-American collaborations through cultural and civic engagement in the South Side of Chicago.
  • Films on the Lake | Chicago
    Films on the Lake is a free outdoor French film festival produced annually in Chicago parks by the Cultural Services at the French Embassy in Chicago as part of the Chicago Park District's Movies in the Parks.
  • New Music Fund
    Created in 2004, the New Music Fund (formerly Fund for Contemporary Music) was initiated by FACE Foundation and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy to encourage new commissions, residencies, masterclasses, performances and tours involving contemporary composers, musicians and ensembles. Conceived in partnership with Institut français, French Ministry of Culture, SACEM and Florence Gould Foundation, the fund also fosters co-creations between French and American composers. Since 2011, the fund has granted 800,000 dollars to more than 80 projects, including 15 commissions, 2 residencies and 8 tours in the United States, for more than 58 ensembles and a total of 200 concerts and recitals.
  • French Immersion
    French Immersion is a brand new program to support emerging and innovative French creators initiated by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy. The Cultural Services of the French Embassy, in partnership with UniFrance, the Institut Français, the CNC and Air France, launch this new program to support producers and creators of VR projects and immersive experiences in 2018.
  • FACE Contemporary Theater and FUSED Programs: Application Call 2018
    The Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States and FACE Foundation are pleased to announce that the new 2018 FACE Contemporary Theater and French U.S. Exchange in Dance (FUSED) program guidelines and application are now available online. American institutions as well as French institutions can apply until February 28, 2018, for projects taking place between June, 1, 2018 and July 2019.
  • French-American Jazz Exchange (FAJE)
    The French-American Jazz Exchange (FAJE) celebrates the United States and France’s shared passion for jazz. A program of FACE Foundation and Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, in collaboration with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, FAJE is designed to foster the creative and professional development of jazz artists from France and the United States. Beginning in 2018, FAJE program will encompass two complementary grant components: grants for French and American musicians (Creative Project Grants) and grants for American presenters booking FAJE collaborations (FAJE On Tour).

    Designed as a yearlong artistic journey, Kids Trail offers children and adults the opportunity to explore French arts and culture through a variety of disciplines: cinema, theater, design, dance, visual arts, philosophy, music and literature.
  • Films on the Green
    Films on the Green is an free outdoor French film festival in New York City parks organized annually by the French Embassy, FACE Foundation and NYC Parks.
  • French Authors on Tour
    The Book Department at the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York offers financial support to American institutions wishing to host French authors for readings, signings, and symposia. We collaborate with universities, libraries, bookstores, publishing houses, and other venues across the United States to organize events with visiting authors.
  • Young French Cinema
    YOUNG FRENCH CINEMA is a program of UniFrance films, in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, which aims to bring French films with no US distribution to art house cinemas, film societies, the Alliance Française network, and American universities.
  • The Tournées Film Festival
    The Tournées Festival aims to bring contemporary French cinema to American college and university campuses. The program distributes close to $200,000 in grants annually to encourage schools to begin their own self-sustaining French film festivals. The Tournées Festival has partnered with more than 600 universities, making it possible for more than 500,000 students to discover French-language films.
  • CinéSchool
    The Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York, the network of the Alliances Françaises in the United States, and the Institut français, are proud to present a new educational program : “Cineschool.” This Film and audiovisual program provides schools, Alliances Françaises and cultural institutions with a film catalogue and trilingual educational portfolios designed for children and teenagers from four to eighteen years old.
  • Publishing Grants & Prizes
    The Book Department at the Cultural Services of the French Embassy works to promote French and Francophone literature and to encourage English translations of French works. We oversee three grant programs to help publishers and translators with acquisition of rights cost and translation cost.
  • Best of French Short Films from the Clermont-Ferrand Festival
    Best of French Short Films, a program launched by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the US in 2016, offers non-commercial theaters a selection of short films that were presented at the most recent International Short Film Festival - Clermont-Ferrand. 
  • Centre National du Livre Translator Residencies
    The Centre national du livre (CNL) offers grants to foreign translators who wish to spend time in France to complete a translation project of a French work into their own language.
  • ARTE Docs USA
    The Cultural Services of the French Embassy, and ARTE, the European cultural TV channel, are thrilled to offer ARTE Docs USA, a list of documentaries, for American Universities, non profit institutions, schools and Alliances françaises.
  • Mediamerica
    Created in 2004, Mediamerica.org is administered by the Film, Television and New Media Department of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States. The website is a resource for French professionals in the industry. 
  • FACE Contemporary Theater
    The FrencFACE Contemporary Theater, a French-American grant program, is dedicated to fostering innovative artistic collaborations in the field of theater and to contributing to the dynamism of intercultural dialogue and exchange between France and the U.S.
  • Etant Donnés: French-American Fund for Contemporary Art
    Étant donnés Contemporary Art aims to strengthen ties between France and the U.S. in the field of contemporary art by fostering active collaboration and encouraging long-lasting partnerships between French visual artists, curators and collectives and American curators and cultural institutions. The fund supports the discovery of emerging talents, while also sustaining interest in established artists. Furthermore, it has been instrumental in creating a network of curators from France and the U.S. Since its inception, Étant donnés has developed an international reputation by allocating over $3 million to fund more than 300 projects and 16 curators.
  • Meet: Residency for Writers and Translators in Saint-Nazaire
    For almost thirty years, the "Meet" — Maison des Écrivains Étrangers et des Traducteurs (the Foreign Writers and Translators House) — has welcomed writers and translators from all over the world. The resident is allocated a weekly grant and accommodated in an emblematic high-rise overlooking the docks and the shipyards of Saint Nazaire Harbour, on the Loire River estuary. The deadline for application is the end of February for a residency the following year.
  • Le Créative Lab North America
    Le Créative Lab: North America is a 6-day intensive program for startups from the cultural and creative industries willing to expand into the US market in the next 12 to 24 months. The purpose of this immersion into the New York and Montréal landscape is to help French entrepreneurs adapt their products or services to the American consumer and define a marketing strategy for the US market, as well as establish contacts and networks to prepare for the product launch in the United States
