CENTER STRUCTURE

The Center for European Studies is located within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences but works across Schools at the University, particular with the Kennedy School of Government and the Law School.  In addition, we have close ties with MIT.

PROFILE

The Center is an interdisciplinary (primarily social science) institution dedicated to the study of modern Europe. Our focus is three fold: 1) support for students and training (this includes funding for year-long dissertation research in Europe, undergraduate senior thesis travel grants and internships including in France)  2) research: we host conferences, book talks and support the work of our faculty. We also have a robust program of Visiting Scholars who spend a semester or year at the Center to carry out research on Europe. Part of that is a faculty exchange with Sciences-Po in Paris. 3) Public outreach: this includes talks by leading policy makers such as, recently, Pierre Vimont or figures from the world of culture, conferences on timely issues, podcasts, liveblogs, movies, etc.
