French and francophone culture is thriving on U.S. university campuses with the help of the new, nation-wide France on Campus Award, launched in 2015. Georgia Southern University was one of the top-ten awarded campuses. The French Honor Society – Pi Delta Phi at GSU applied and won this award with their project called The French Press – The Responsibility of Freedom of Speech.

The award was presented during a ceremony held at Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York, during which eight awards were also presented to support dual language student teachers in obtaining Masters degrees in Bilingual Education.
