The Transatlantic Friendship and Mobility Initiative 2014 Awards

The Initiative for Transatlantic Friendship and Mobility, announced by the Department of State and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 13, 2014, and endorsed by AAU (Association of American Universities), APLU (the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities), NAFSA (Association of International Educators) and IIE (the Institute of International Education), aims to strengthen the historic ties between the United States and France by doubling the number of students from France and the United States studying abroad in our respective countries, by 2025.

The 2014 Lafayette Debates

On April 12 and 13, the Embassy of France and The George Washington University hosted a student competition called “The Lafayette Debates.” Beginning with a series of online debates and multimedia competitions, the debates culminated in a tournament hosted by the Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies of the George Washington University. This year the topic addresses the question of the value of cultural expressions in the context of International trade.
